What medicine should I take for gallbladder polyps?

Gallbladder polyps is a general term, the most common is cholesterol polyps, there are inflammatory polyps, adenomatous polyps and even gallbladder adenocarcinoma polyps. Different types of polyps have different treatments.

There is no specific drug treatment for gallbladder polyps. The clinical drug treatment of gallbladder polyps is mainly to relieve some uncomfortable symptoms when gallbladder polyps occasionally complicate cholecystitis. These drugs mainly include antibiotics, anti-inflammatory and gallbladder drugs. These drugs have no definite therapeutic effect on gallbladder polyps themselves. For gallbladder adenoma or adenocarcinoma that requires surgical treatment, using only drug treatment may even delay the disease.

If gallbladder polyps present with abdominal pain and loss of appetite, and if blood white blood cells or C-reactive protein are increased and complicated acute cholecystitis is determined, antibiotic drugs can usually be treated. Acute cholecystitis is mainly caused by some Gram-negative bacteria and anaerobic bacteria. During treatment, antibiotics are usually third-generation cephalosporins and metronidazole. Since most gallbladder polyps are cholesterol polyps, some people have tried to use drugs such as ursodeoxycholic acid or bezoar bear sampling bile acid to treat gallbladder polyps, but the efficacy is uncertain. Some Chinese patent medicines, such as anti-inflammatory bile tablets and gallbladder health capsules, can also be used together.

Generally speaking, gallbladder polyps are lesions caused by hyperplasia of the mucosa of the inner wall of the gallbladder due to various reasons. The polyps themselves have a certain tendency to cancer, especially some polyps about 1 cm in size, which can cause malignant changes in the polyps due to chronic inflammation or other adverse stimulation. The current treatment is still mainly based on surgery. For undoubtedly malignant gallbladder polyps, some hospitals adopt the method of preserving the gallbladder to remove the polyps, but there is a certain recurrence rate of polyps after surgery.

The drug treatment of gallbladder polyps is mainly to treat the complications of gallbladder polyps. For gallbladder polyps themselves, the main treatment is gallbladder removal.
