Is shoulder pain caused by cervical spondylosis?

The shoulder refers to the part where the arm is connected to the torso. The shoulder not only bears the weight of the head, but also helps the arms and other organs move. Under normal circumstances, people will not have shoulder pain, but many patients find that shoulder pain induces symptoms such as insomnia, physical fatigue, and nervous sensitivity.

1. Cervical spondylosis

The cervical spine is characterized by frequent and large movements. If the patient engages in strenuous exercise or physical labor for a long time, the cervical spine will be damaged and degenerated, such as cervical disc herniation or cervical stiffness. Cervical spondylosis will compress the surrounding nerves and cause shoulder pain.

2. Pleurisy

The pleura is a thin membrane covering the chest wall that lubricates the lungs during breathing. Many patients suffer from pleurisy due to poor living conditions, respiratory infections, pneumothorax, or rheumatoid arthritis, which not only causes chest pain, but also radiates to the shoulders.

3. Synovitis

The synovium is a layer of cartilage that protects the joints. If the patient uses the shoulder joint for a long time and often works in a cold environment, it is easy to cause synovial inflammation, which will not only cause shoulder pain, but also cause local congestion and edema. This phenomenon often occurs in professional athletes, such as climbers or basketball players.

4. Myocardial infarction

Myocardial infarction is a heart disease that causes chest pain and tightness due to insufficient blood supply to the heart. In severe cases, it can also cause shoulder pain. There are many causes of myocardial infarction, such as arteriosclerosis, high blood lipids, excessive obesity, and long-term exposure to smoke.

In our lives, many patients think that shoulder pain is a minor disease. This perception is incorrect. Shoulder pain is a more obvious symptom. Patients should clearly diagnose the cause and choose a scientific treatment plan based on the severity of the disease and physical fitness. Patients should not only cooperate with medical staff to change their sitting and sleeping postures, but also actively use medications to better restore their shoulders.
