What to do if your skin becomes red due to mastitis

The main symptoms of mastitis may be redness, swelling, pain and fever on the surface of the breast. Blood tests for mastitis may show increased blood, which is also a sign of inflammation. Generally speaking, warm water compresses or magnesium sulfate compresses can be used locally, which also have anti-inflammatory effects. The main purpose is to control the inflammatory infection, and antibiotics can be used for treatment, such as penicillin or cephalosporin. If mastitis forms an abscess, surgery may also be required.

Can mastitis cause milk withdrawal?

Mastitis is usually caused by retrograde infection of bacteria after milk deposition. Milk is rich in nutrients and is a good culture medium for bacteria. Bacteria multiply and cause local inflammatory changes. Mastitis itself does not cause milk reflux, but mastitis needs timely and active treatment, anti-inflammatory, wet compresses, and swelling. The milk needs to be emptied. Mastitis generally does not stop breastfeeding because stopping breastfeeding will increase milk deposition. However, breastfeeding needs to be stopped on the affected side, and the milk needs to be emptied with a breast pump. Pay attention to local hygiene. If mastitis is severe or breast cysts are formed, milk needs to be returned, and new surgical treatment is required if necessary.

Complications of granulomatous mastitis

Granulomatous mastitis is a special case of mastitis. Mastitis mainly refers to redness, swelling and pain in the breast after inflammatory stimulation. Some may form breast abscesses, which are more common in lactating women. Complications of granulomatous mastitis can cause not only redness and pain in the breast, but also high fever and chills throughout the body. The most serious case is the possibility of malignant changes. For this type of inflammation, we must treat it as soon as possible. If necessary, local lesion tissue resection can be performed, a clear diagnosis can be made through pathological examination, and targeted treatment can be carried out according to the actual situation.
