How to treat baby cystitis

How to treat baby cystitis

The treatment of baby cystitis needs to be targeted according to the cause and symptoms, usually including medication, lifestyle adjustments and preventive measures. Cystitis may be caused by bacterial infection, abnormal urinary tract structure or poor hygiene habits, and timely medical treatment is the key.

1. Drug treatment

Bacterial infection is a common cause of cystitis in babies. Doctors will prescribe antibiotics based on the results of bacterial culture. Commonly used drugs include amoxicillin, cefaclor and nitrofurantoin. The course of treatment is usually 7-10 days. Pay attention to taking medications as prescribed by your doctor and avoid stopping medications on your own or abusing antibiotics. For babies with repeated infections, long-term low-dose antibiotics may be needed for prevention.

2. Adjust your lifestyle

Good living habits can help prevent recurrence of cystitis. Make sure your baby drinks enough water every day to promote urine excretion and reduce bacterial retention. Avoid letting your baby hold urine for a long time and develop a habit of urinating regularly. Pay attention to personal hygiene, especially for baby girls. Wipe from front to back after defecation to prevent bacteria from entering the urethra.

3. Diet adjustment

Diet also has an important impact on bladder health. Feeding your baby more foods rich in vitamin C, such as oranges, strawberries and tomatoes, can help boost immunity. Avoid spicy and irritating foods to reduce irritation to the bladder. You can drink cranberry juice in moderation, as the ingredients in it help inhibit bacteria from adhering to the bladder wall.

4. Medical treatment and examination

If your baby has symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, pain when urinating, or fever, you should seek medical attention immediately. The doctor may perform urine routine, urine culture, and ultrasound examinations to determine the cause and rule out structural abnormalities of the urinary tract. For recurrent cystitis, further examination may be required to determine whether there are problems such as vesicoureteral reflux.

The treatment of baby cystitis requires comprehensive medication, lifestyle and diet adjustments, and attention should be paid to preventing recurrence. Parents should pay close attention to changes in the baby's symptoms, seek medical treatment in a timely manner and follow the doctor's advice to ensure the baby's early recovery.
