The method of choice for diagnosing gallstones

The preferred method for diagnosing gallstones is abdominal ultrasound, which is simple, non-invasive and highly accurate, and has become the most commonly used detection method in clinical practice.

Gallstones are a common digestive system disease, mainly caused by abnormal bile composition and gallstones in the gallbladder. There may be no obvious symptoms in the early stage, but as the stones grow or move, they may cause discomfort such as right upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. A clear diagnosis is the key to treatment, and choosing the right method can greatly improve the detection effect.

Abdominal ultrasound is a technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to image, just like "finding fish in the water", to determine whether there are gallstones by observing the shape of the gallbladder and the echo of the stones. It has no radioactive damage and is particularly suitable for pregnant women and other people who need to avoid radiation. Other auxiliary examinations include CT and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), which are suitable for complex cases or suspected complications, but are generally used as secondary or supplementary methods.

Paying more attention to a balanced diet and avoiding excessive intake of high-fat and high-cholesterol foods can help reduce the risk of gallstones. If you find frequent abdominal pain or symptoms such as fever and jaundice, you should seek medical attention in time, combine ultrasound results to further clarify the condition and receive treatment.
