Ankylosing spondylitis has a certain genetic tendency, but it is not completely a genetic disease. Its onset is also related to many factors such as environmental factors and immune system abnormalities. When there is ankylosing spondylitis in the family, the risk of the disease in the offspring will increase, but not everyone who carries the relevant genetic characteristics will develop the disease. From the perspective of genetic factors, studies have shown that about 90% of ankylosing spondylitis patients carry the HLA-B27 gene, which is strongly associated with the onset of ankylosing spondylitis. However, carrying the HLA-B27 gene alone does not mean that you will definitely get sick. Many people with normal genes may also get sick. Environmental factors such as infection, intestinal flora imbalance, unhealthy lifestyles, and individual immune system abnormalities are also important causes of ankylosing spondylitis. The disease usually occurs between the ages of 20 and 30, and men are more susceptible than women. Typical symptoms include stiffness and pain in the lower back, which worsens in the morning and is relieved after activity. If not treated in time, it may lead to permanent stiffness of the spine or even disability. For people with a family history of the disease, regular physical examinations are recommended, especially HLA-B27 gene testing. If the disease has been confirmed, treatment aims to delay disease progression, relieve pain and improve function. Common methods include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen, celecoxib), biological agents (such as adalimumab, etanercept) and regular rehabilitation exercises (such as swimming, stretching exercises, etc.). It is also very important to avoid sitting for long periods of time, pay more attention to maintaining spinal flexibility, and improve daily posture. When you experience persistent back pain, limited mobility, or joint symptoms caused by infection, you must seek medical attention in a timely manner. Early and clear diagnosis can help delay the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life. Through scientific management, many patients can effectively control their symptoms and maintain a normal life. |
