Nursing Care of Patients with Oral and Maxillofacial Hemangioma

The key to the care of patients with oral and maxillofacial hemangiomas is to control the development of the lesions, prevent infection and relieve discomfort, while cooperating with doctors and doing targeted daily care. Although hemangiomas are mostly benign lesions, they may affect appearance and function because they grow in the oral and maxillofacial area, so care and treatment must be cautious.

Patients with hemangiomas should keep the affected area clean and hygienic to avoid trauma or infection. Be gentle when brushing your teeth and gargling daily, and avoid using irritating mouthwashes to prevent aggravating the congestion or rupture of local hemangiomas. At the same time, choose a soft-bristled toothbrush to prevent additional damage to the oral soft tissue. In terms of diet, you should pay attention to avoid overheated, spicy, and hard foods to reduce irritation to the affected area. Observing changes in hemangiomas is the core work of nursing. Regularly check the color and size of the tumor for abnormalities and record the changes. If ulceration or bleeding occurs, apply pressure to stop bleeding immediately and seek medical attention in time.

During the nursing process, the doctor's planned treatment should be followed, such as laser, sclerosing agent injection or surgical treatment. Preoperative and postoperative care is particularly important. Avoid stimulating the tumor before surgery, and take antibiotics as prescribed by the doctor to prevent infection after surgery. For pediatric patients or special populations, psychological counseling should be strengthened to appease the patient's anxiety about the treatment process, help them adjust their mentality, and better cooperate with the treatment.

Patients are advised to have regular follow-up visits and adjust treatment plans at any time to prevent hemangiomas from growing again or worsening. Pay attention to avoiding trauma, maintaining a regular lifestyle, improving the body's immunity, and reducing the risk of disease. If the tumor grows rapidly, pain occurs, or bleeding occurs repeatedly, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible to obtain professional diagnosis and treatment advice. Scientific and reasonable care can help minimize the impact of hemangiomas on patients' daily lives.
