How to treat breast abscess to get rid of it

Breast abscess can only be eradicated by clearing the infection and adequate drainage, and if necessary, anti-infection treatment and lifestyle adjustments are also required.

Breast abscess is a suppurative disease caused by bacterial infection of breast tissue. It often occurs in lactating women, especially in the colostrum stage. This condition is usually caused by milk stasis due to milk duct blockage, which provides a suitable breeding environment for bacteria. The main manifestations include local swelling, redness, heat, and severe pain in the breast, which may sometimes be accompanied by fever or general fatigue.

The key to treating breast abscesses is to completely drain the pus so that the infected area can be cleaned and healed. In mild cases, physical therapy and hot compresses may be used to promote the dissipation of inflammation, but if obvious abscesses occur, puncture drainage or incision drainage is required. On the basis of drainage, the doctor will choose appropriate antibiotics for treatment according to the severity of the infection to ensure that the further spread of bacteria is suppressed. At the same time, patients who have breastfeeding needs should also deal with breastfeeding issues reasonably under the guidance of a doctor to avoid milk stasis aggravating the condition.

In order to prevent the recurrence of breast abscess, lactating women should pay attention to maintaining breast hygiene and patency of milk ducts, frequently drain milk and avoid excessive milk accumulation; if nipple cracks or pain are found, care should be taken as soon as possible; eat a balanced diet and improve immunity. If abnormal symptoms such as persistent breast swelling, pain, and skin redness are found during the care process, medical help should be sought as soon as possible. Through scientific treatment and lifestyle conditioning, recurrence of breast abscess can be effectively avoided.
