What are myeloma cells?

Myeloma cells are actually the "masterminds" behind multiple myeloma. When we refer to myeloma cells, we are referring to plasma cells that proliferate abnormally in the bone marrow. Normally, plasma cells are part of our immune system and are responsible for producing antibodies to fight infection. However, in some cases, these cells undergo abnormal changes and become out of control, which is a myeloma cell.

Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer, and its "protagonists" are these abnormal myeloma cells.
