How to treat burns faster

How to treat burns faster

To heal burns faster, you should immediately rinse with cold water to cool down and avoid worsening the injury. At the same time, take appropriate treatment measures according to the severity of the burn, such as using medication, paying attention to wound care, and adjusting your diet. For severe burns, you need to seek medical attention in time.

1. Immediate treatment: alleviate injury and prevent further damage

After a burn, the injured area should be continuously rinsed with running water for 15 to 30 minutes. This helps to reduce the skin surface temperature, relieve pain and reduce the depth of the burn. If the burn area is large, it is not advisable to pour a large amount of cold water directly on the whole body. You should first use a wet and cool layout to cool the whole body. Remember, never use ice cubes to directly contact the wound surface, and do not apply toothpaste, soy sauce, alcohol and other traditional "folk remedies", which may cause cross infection or increase the difficulty of treatment.

2. Treatment is determined according to the severity of the burn.

For mild burns, i.e., first-degree burns, if the epidermis is slightly red and swollen, and painful, you can use burn ointments locally, such as Jingwanhong ointment, moist burn ointment, or aloe vera gel, to help relieve inflammation and speed up the skin repair process. If the blisters are obvious, i.e., second-degree burns, do not puncture the blisters at will. It is recommended to go to the hospital, where the doctor will perform aseptic treatment to avoid infection. Deep burns above the third degree involve the dermis and even subcutaneous tissue, accompanied by tissue necrosis. Such cases require emergency medical treatment and may require professional treatment such as debridement and skin grafting.

3. Pay attention to wound care and prevent infection

The wound surface after burns needs to be kept clean and dry to avoid secondary infection. Avoid casual contact of the wound with clothing, dust or hands. If bandaging is required, it is recommended to cover the wound with sterile gauze and change the medicine and dressing regularly. When changing the dressing, carefully check whether the wound surface is red, swollen or suppurated. If signs of serious infection are found, seek medical attention immediately.

4 Adjustment of diet and lifestyle habits helps recovery

During the recovery period, eating more foods rich in vitamin C and protein, such as oranges, kiwis, fish and eggs, can help promote skin tissue repair. At the same time, the diet should be light and avoid spicy foods. Pay attention to ensuring adequate sleep time to reduce physical fatigue and help the immune system better cope with the trauma repair process. Drinking enough water is also critical to maintaining skin hydration.

The treatment of burns focuses on early treatment and prevention of infection. Mild burns can be treated at home, while severe or large-area burns require medical treatment as soon as possible. During treatment, it is important to maintain wound hygiene, use medication and diet appropriately, and consult a doctor for more professional guidance. Proper treatment and careful care can help wounds heal faster and reduce scar formation.
