Breast cyst grades

Breast cyst grades

Breast cysts are usually benign breast lesions. Although they are harmless in most cases, the condition still needs to be observed through scientific grading.

Breast cysts are cystic structures formed by the accumulation of fluid in the breast glands. They are common before and after menstruation or when estrogen levels fluctuate. They are related to hormonal disorders. Doctors usually classify cysts into different BI-RADS grades based on the results of breast imaging to assess the nature of the lesion and the risk of malignancy.

BI-RADS is divided into 6 levels, with level 0 indicating the need for additional examinations; levels 1 and 2 are usually benign and do not require special treatment; level 3 is benign but requires regular follow-up; level 4 indicates a certain possibility of malignancy, and a biopsy is recommended for a definitive diagnosis; levels 5 and 6 indicate a high risk of malignancy or confirmed cancer, which requires timely treatment. If there are irregular septa, blood flow signals, or thickened cyst walls in the cyst, one should be more vigilant.

It is recommended that women undergo regular breast screening and consult a doctor promptly if any abnormalities are found. Do not ignore or try to deal with them on your own. Maintaining a regular lifestyle, controlling weight, and reducing high-fat diets can also prevent the risk of breast disease. Any questions should be based on professional medical advice.
