TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Breast Cyst

TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Breast Cyst

Breast cyst is a common benign breast disease. According to traditional Chinese medicine, its cause is mainly related to liver depression and qi stagnation, phlegm and blood stasis, and Chong and Ren disorders. According to different constitutions and syndromes, syndrome differentiation and treatment can be carried out through methods such as soothing the liver and regulating qi, resolving phlegm and dispersing stagnation, and regulating Chong and Ren, while coordinating with diet adjustment and appropriate lifestyle improvement.

1. Analysis of the TCM etiology of breast cysts

In traditional Chinese medicine theory, the formation of breast cysts is closely related to emotional disorders, dietary disorders, and overwork:

- Liver Qi stagnation: Emotional distress or excessive stress can easily lead to liver Qi stagnation, which is an important cause of breast disease. Long-term liver Qi stagnation can turn into fire, which can further cause breast pain and cyst formation.

- Phlegm and dampness condensation: Traditional Chinese medicine believes that when the spleen is weak and dysfunctional, dampness and turbidity are generated internally. Phlegm and qi stagnation together block the breast meridians and form lumps or cysts.

- Chong and Ren disorders: Insufficient Qi and blood or disordered Qi in women may disrupt the balance of Chong and Ren meridians, causing physiological disorders of breasts. Endocrine disorders can also aggravate the condition.

2. TCM Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment

Through syndrome differentiation and treatment, you can choose the appropriate treatment plan according to the specific symptoms:

(1) Soothing the Liver and Regulating Qi Method:

It is suitable for patients with liver depression and qi stagnation, which manifests as breast pain, depression, chest tightness, etc. The Chinese medicines that can be used include Chaihu Shugan San or Xiaoyao San, which focus on soothing the liver and relieving depression and regulating qi. Usually, you can massage Taichong and Hegu points to help improve the state of liver depression.

(2) Phlegm-resolving and nodule-dispersing method:

Phlegm-dampness condensation type breast cysts often present with soft, round lumps in the breast, accompanied by a greasy tongue coating and fatigue. Traditional Chinese medicine prescriptions such as Erchen Decoction, such as the combination of dried tangerine peel, pinellia tuber, and poria, can help dispel dampness and resolve phlegm.

(3) Chong and Ren meridian regulation method:

If the endocrine function is imbalanced due to Chong and Ren disorders, the method of tonifying Chong and Ren and promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis is often used. Commonly used Chinese medicines include cinnamon twig, angelica, cooked rehmannia root, etc. The recommended prescription is Siwu Decoction or Liuwei Dihuang Pills, which can improve breast conditions by regulating the balance of qi and blood throughout the body.

3. Adjust to your daily life

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment of breast cysts also focuses on the recovery of the whole body. The following points should be noted in the lifestyle:

-Eat more light and easily digestible foods, such as winter melon, coix seeds, green leafy vegetables, etc., and avoid spicy, stimulating, greasy and heavy foods.

-Emotional relaxation is the key. You can relieve stress through meditation, yoga, deep breathing, etc.

-Moderate exercise can help to clear the meridians, such as the Five Animal Exercises, Tai Chi and other health-preserving exercises recommended by traditional Chinese medicine.

Patients with breast cysts should actively cooperate with treatment, choose appropriate syndrome differentiation methods according to their specific constitution, adjust their lifestyles, and develop good habits. While clarifying the cause of the disease, timely consulting a professional doctor and following the doctor's advice to develop a dedicated treatment plan can achieve better results.
