What diseases are similar to gallstones?

The symptoms of gallstones are often similar to those of gastritis, pancreatitis, and hepatitis, which can easily lead to misdiagnosis or confusion in the early stages. Patients need detailed examinations, such as ultrasound, CT, or blood tests, to identify the cause of the disease and provide accurate treatment.

The pain of both gastritis and gallstones may be located in the upper abdomen and accompanied by nausea and vomiting, but the pain of gastritis is usually closely related to eating, for example, the pain is relieved or aggravated after eating, while the pain of gallstones may suddenly appear at night and last for a long time. Pancreatitis is often manifested by severe upper abdominal pain, which may be accompanied by fever, jaundice or shock symptoms, while gallstones often cause similar symptoms due to stones blocking the bile duct, which requires differentiation. Hepatitis patients may also experience upper abdominal discomfort and jaundice, but are often accompanied by fatigue, decreased appetite and darker urine color; gallstones are usually paroxysmal pain, and symptom fluctuations are more typical.

For the identification and treatment of gallstones, it is recommended to see a doctor as soon as possible. If gallstones are suspected, examinations including abdominal ultrasound, CT scan and blood liver function tests should be done. The daily diet should reduce high-fat and high-cholesterol foods and increase fiber intake to prevent stone formation. For those who have difficulty in identifying the disease, it is necessary to clarify the cause under the guidance of a professional doctor to avoid delaying treatment or causing more serious complications.
