Are there any side effects after nose fracture surgery?

There may be some sequelae after nose fracture surgery, but most of them can be gradually alleviated with proper care and follow-up.

A broken nose usually affects the cartilage and bone structure of the nose. The purpose of surgery is to repair the fracture and restore function and appearance. Although surgery can solve the problem, it may bring some side effects or sequelae due to individual differences, surgical methods and postoperative recovery. Common conditions include nasal congestion, loss of smell, changes in appearance, etc. These may be temporary, but may last longer in some patients.

Nasal congestion may be caused by swelling of the nasal mucosa or tissue changes during surgery, and usually improves within a few weeks after surgery. Loss of smell is often related to preoperative injury or postoperative inflammation. It is recommended to use saline to clean the nasal cavity as prescribed by the doctor and avoid spicy food and strenuous exercise. For appearance problems, such as an asymmetrical nose, regular postoperative follow-up and communication with the doctor are required.

After surgery, you should follow the doctor's instructions, including taking medication on time, avoiding bumping your nose, and keeping your nasal cavity clean. If you find persistent pain, worsening nose bleeding, or obvious abnormal appearance, you should seek medical attention for evaluation and treatment in a timely manner.
