What are the symptoms of lymphadenopathy?

Lymphatic tuberculosis is an infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which often manifests as swollen, painless but gradually softening lymph nodes. Some patients may experience systemic symptoms such as low-grade fever and night sweats, and need to seek professional medical help in a timely manner.

This disease is more common in people with low immunity, especially teenagers and the elderly. The tuberculosis bacteria spread to the lymph nodes through the blood or lymphatic circulation, most often affecting the lymph nodes in the neck, but the lymph nodes in the armpit or groin may also be affected. It develops slowly, may not be easily noticed, and the course of the disease is long.

Common symptoms include swollen lymph nodes that feel firm and are usually painless. As the disease progresses, the swollen lymph nodes may soften, suppurate, form sinus tracts or rupture, and there may also be intermittent low-grade fever, fatigue, weight loss and other symptoms. If the inflammation spreads throughout the body, it may even cause tuberculosis infection of the internal organs.

In the face of these symptoms, early diagnosis and treatment are critical, especially when persistent lymphadenopathy is found and does not improve, or when there are other systemic changes, it is important to go to the hospital for examination. The doctor may need to confirm the diagnosis through biopsy and imaging examinations, and take anti-tuberculosis treatment based on the results. Cooperating with the doctor's treatment plan and taking medication regularly are the keys to recovery.
