The dangers of osteoporosis in 43-year-old women

Osteoporosis is a disease characterized by decreased bone density and fragile bones, especially in middle-aged and elderly women. As we age, especially after menopause, the decline in estrogen in the body accelerates bone loss. Women aged 43 are at a critical stage for bone health. If osteoporosis is not taken seriously, it may cause a series of health problems.

For people with osteoporosis, small accidents during daily activities may lead to fractures, most commonly in the hips, wrists and spine. Fractures are not only extremely painful, but can also cause problems such as difficulty in movement and long-term bed rest, which are serious threats to health and quality of life. Spinal fractures may lead to shortened height and hunchback, and changes in body structure can further affect lung and gastrointestinal function.

To prevent or improve osteoporosis, we should start with diet, exercise and lifestyle. In terms of diet, we should eat more calcium-rich foods such as milk, soy products and green leafy vegetables, and supplement vitamin D to promote calcium absorption. Moderate weight-bearing exercises such as brisk walking and small dumbbell exercises can help strengthen bones. Quitting smoking and limiting alcohol consumption are also crucial, as tobacco and alcohol will accelerate bone loss. If you have high-risk factors such as menopausal symptoms or family history, it is recommended to have regular bone density checks and take necessary interventions according to the doctor's advice.
