What to do if you have ankylosing spondylitis?

What should I do if I have hunchback due to ankylosing spondylitis?

Ankylosing spondylitis is a bone disease that is mainly caused by autoimmune dysfunction, physical infection and genetic factors. As a chronic disease, it not only causes hip pain and back stiffness, but also causes hunchback phenomenon and even kidney damage in severe cases. Patients can go to orthopedics and should be treated according to the examination results.

So what is the treatment?

1. Drug treatment

Since ankylosing spondylitis can cause muscle stiffness and pain, patients need to use medication for appropriate treatment, mainly including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and anti-rheumatic drugs, such as diclofenac, methotrexate, etc. After taking the medicine, they need to pay attention to gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea and vomiting.

2. Physical therapy

For spondylitis and hunchback, patients can improve local microcirculation and relax muscles through physical therapy, mainly including warm water shower, sea salt hot compress and Chinese medicine fumigation. Usually, they can also go to ordinary Chinese medicine hospitals for massage and acupuncture.

3. Exercise

Exercise is an effective way to relieve ankylosing spondylitis. Warm-up and stretching exercises should be performed before exercise. Patients can choose exercises that suit their physical condition, mainly including Tai Chi, yoga at home, walking in a park with fresh air, and swimming training, which are beneficial to increase joint flexibility and strengthen muscles.

4. Surgical correction

When a patient has a significant hunchback due to ankylosing spondylitis, surgery needs to be considered after a video examination. The patient needs to be given general anesthesia first. After the doctor finds the protruding spine, the diseased spine needs to be removed and corrected with a stent. Surgery has certain risks.

Ankylosing spondylitis is a very harmful disease, but it is not difficult to cure. If the patient has a hunchback due to spondylitis, he should actively undergo a full-body examination, receive exercise and physical therapy in the early stage, and undergo surgical correction in the later stage. It is best for the patient to get the support of family and friends during the treatment process, strengthen their faith, and effectively improve the cure rate.
