How often should liver cysts be checked?

Liver cysts are a common benign liver disease. Cysts generally do not become cancerous, most do not damage liver function, and small cysts do not affect normal life. Because there is currently no specific medicine to eliminate liver cysts, there is no need to take medicine. You only need to go to the hospital for regular checkups and have 1 to 2 B-ultrasounds a year. Generally, liver cysts will not grow larger and are mainly congenital. If they increase chronically, interventional or surgical treatment can be used. Liver cysts generally do not increase in size, so there is no need to be too nervous. Smoking and drinking are prohibited at ordinary times to avoid stress on the abdomen.

How are liver cysts diagnosed?

1. The diagnosis of liver cysts usually requires imaging examinations and B-ultrasound examinations. If B-ultrasound can find a round or round shape with very clear boundaries and low echo, this situation can usually be diagnosed as a liver cyst.

2. Some liver cystic lesions may also present as cystadenomas or atypical hemangiomas. In this case, liver cysts require differential diagnosis.

3. For differential diagnosis, the commonly selected examination methods include CT and MRI. Injection of enhanced contrast agents can also be used to further distinguish liver space-occupying lesions such as liver cysts.

Symptoms of liver cysts:

1. Liver cyst is a relatively common benign liver disease, especially in middle-aged and elderly people.

2. The formation of liver cysts is actually a degenerative change. With the increase of age, the occurrence of liver cysts becomes more and more common.

3. Liver masses found during physical examination, especially low-density lesions, need to be differentially diagnosed from other liver mass lesions.

4. Generally speaking, liver cysts are one or more small blisters on the liver, which usually do not cause much harm to human health.

5. There is also a kind of liver cyst which is a congenital hereditary disease, called polycystic liver.
