Aren’t urinary stones bladder stones? Will they hurt?

Urinary stones and bladder stones are not the same disease. They refer to different locations and formation mechanisms, but both may cause discomfort such as pain. Urinary stones often occur in the kidneys or ureters, while bladder stones appear in the bladder. The degree and location of pain vary depending on the location and size of the stones. Timely medical diagnosis and treatment can effectively relieve symptoms and prevent complications.

1Differences between urinary stones and bladder stones:

Urinary stones are mostly caused by mineral crystals in urine deposited in the kidneys or ureters. Typical symptoms include sudden lower back pain, hematuria, and nausea and vomiting. The pain is usually severe colic that can radiate from the abdomen to the groin. Bladder stones are mainly caused by the inability to completely empty the urine in the bladder, such as prostate hypertrophy or abnormal bladder function, and manifest as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, lower abdominal pain, and hematuria. Both need to be confirmed by imaging tests such as B-ultrasound, urine analysis, or CT.

2 Relief and treatment of urinary stones:

1 Urinary stones smaller than 5 mm may pass on their own. Drinking 2-3 liters of water a day can dilute the urine and help pass the stones.

2 If necessary, medications such as antispasmodics and analgesics such as butorphanol or alpha-receptor blockers such as tamsulosin that promote stone excretion can be used;

3 If larger stones affect drainage or are accompanied by severe symptoms, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy or ureteroscopic lithotripsy may be considered.

3 Bladder Stones Relief and Treatment:

1 Smaller bladder stones can be removed through uterine bladder irrigation;

2 If the stones still cannot be expelled through medication, transurethral lithotripsy can be used to crush the stones with laser or ultrasound, and then remove the stones with suction.

3 For those with obvious organic dysfunction such as prostate hyperplasia, comprehensive treatment is usually required, such as prostate removal or repair of bladder function.

4 Measures to deal with pain:

Whether it is urinary stones or bladder stones that cause pain, you need to use targeted analgesics such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. But if the pain persists, you should see a doctor as soon as possible to avoid missing the best time for treatment.

If you experience symptoms such as painful urination, hematuria, or abdominal cramps, it is recommended that you go to the hospital for a detailed examination as soon as possible. Treatment under the guidance of a professional doctor can solve the problem more quickly and avoid subsequent troubles than relying on daily conditioning.
