Is hydronephrosis severe in men?

Is hydronephrosis severe in men?

Severe hydronephrosis is a serious threat to men's health and requires prompt medical treatment. Hydronephrosis is caused by increased pressure in the kidneys due to obstruction of urine excretion, which causes kidney function damage. Severe hydronephrosis may lead to kidney failure and seriously affect the quality of life. Treatment includes medication, surgery and lifestyle adjustments.

1. Drug treatment. Diuretics such as furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide can help excrete excess water and reduce the burden on the kidneys. Antibiotics such as cephalosporins and penicillins are used to prevent or treat infections. Analgesics such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen can relieve pain symptoms.

2. Surgical treatment. Percutaneous nephrostomy drains urine through skin puncture to relieve kidney pressure. Ureteral stent implantation places a stent to expand the ureter and restore urine circulation. Pyeloplasty repairs the renal pelvis structure and improves urine discharge.

3. Lifestyle adjustment. Limit sodium salt intake to no more than 5 grams per day, and avoid high-salt foods such as pickled foods and processed meats. Increase water intake, drink 1500-2000 ml of water per day to promote urine excretion. Do moderate exercise such as walking and swimming 3-5 times a week, 30 minutes each time, to enhance physical fitness.

Severe hydronephrosis poses a serious threat to men's health and requires prompt medical treatment. Medication, surgery and lifestyle adjustments can effectively relieve symptoms and protect kidney function. Regular physical examinations are recommended to detect and treat hydronephrosis early to prevent the condition from worsening.
