What should I pay attention to if I have a thigh fracture?

Thigh fractures require attention to four aspects: local fixation, functional rehabilitation, diet and personal hygiene. After a fracture occurs, you should not only actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment, but also take good care of your life, which will help the recovery of the disease.

1. Local fixation

In order to maintain the stability of the bones, the thigh needs to be fixed. There are many ways to fix a thigh fracture. For fractures with a good fracture position, choose a small splint, a plaster support or a support external fixation. For patients with dislocated thigh fractures, surgical reduction should be actively performed and fixed with steel plates, screws, intramedullary nails or external fixation frames. Be careful not to bandage too tightly during fixation to avoid affecting blood circulation. Do not do violent activities or premature load during the fixation period to avoid affecting the healing of the fracture.

2. Functional rehabilitation

After the thigh bone fracture surgery, functional recovery is required. The initial stability of the fracture end has not been fully restored. Static contraction, relaxation, ankle rotation and back extension activities are mainly performed to promote the rapid reduction of swelling. At the same time, the knee and hip joints should also be flexed and extended several times a day to avoid joint stiffness. After the fracture end remains relatively stable, resistance activities can be gradually performed. Elastic bands can be used to perform resistance knee flexion and extension activities, exercise the quadriceps and calf triceps, help patients exercise their walking ability, and learn to walk again, but be careful to avoid load.

3. Pay attention to your diet

During the recovery period of fractures, do not take large amounts of supplements, and eat a light diet. You can eat foods rich in calcium, protein, vitamins, and dietary fiber, such as eggs, milk, lean meat, green vegetables, and fruits.

4. Pay attention to personal hygiene

Pay attention to personal hygiene, change clothes frequently, keep your skin clean, and avoid secondary infection caused by bacterial growth. For patients who are bedridden for a long time, they should be turned over regularly to prevent complications such as pneumonia and bedsores.

Try to raise the affected limb when resting to promote blood circulation and eliminate swelling and other discomfort. After recovery, go to the hospital for regular checkups to help the doctor understand the healing of the fracture.
